The car that we drove on the trip. |
The first night, we stayed in a wonderful hotel, "AmericInn". This beautiful quilt was hanging in the hall. |
The hall was so nice - lots of wood, fire place and Christmas tree. |
Then we were on the road again. One long, long road (Highway 86) going west. |
Lots of huge fields in Iowa! |
It is really a fantastic landscape - SO flat. Except for small wet spots like this one. |
We could see for miles and miles. Here we spotted a small village. |
Cold and windy gas station |
Every time we came to a village they had a different way of decorating the lamp posts for Christmas. |
 One village. |
The road is still going straight west!! |
Every now and again we would pass a farm like this one. |
Somebody carved this eagle out of the dead tree trunk. |
Cows enjoying the sun and the left over corn in the field. |
We saw a sign on the highway and thought we would like a closer look at this Danish museum. |
Jeff in fron of museum at the Danish mail box |
Inside the museum. They had a lot of old Danish stuff, that the emigrants brought or had sent over. The row of platters are from The Royal Danish porcelain factory. |
Pictures of some of the old Danish buildings like a church and a school. |
Somebody made this map of Debmark out of Danish stamps. |
Picture of Scandinavian wood choppers. |
Jeff in the small shop where they sold Danish paper cuttings and Christmas mobiles and ornaments. |
DAnish woven hearts. They are a "must" for a Danish Christmas. |
After the museum, we went to the Danish Inn and had a Danish Christmas Buffet. |
Inside was decorated with Danish Christmas decorations like this old "Nisse". |
These goats made of straw, one can find underneeth the Christmas tree. |
In the village was also a genuine, old Danish windmill |

|
As we got closer to Nebraska, we drove along these "Bluffs" for some time. |
Jeff had a hard time explaining why they are called "Bluffs". |
We also passed this place full of brand new semi trucks. |
